On 19 May, 2016, the Crimean Tatar flag was raised at the Ontario Legislative Building in Toronto — a powerful moment of recognition and solidarity with the Crimean Tatar people.

This ceremony, held at Queen’s Park, marked a significant gesture by the Canadian government to honor the Crimean Tatar community, its culture, and its ongoing struggle for justice and human rights following the illegal annexation of Crimea in 2014.

Community members, dignitaries, and allies gathered to raise the flag and share messages of remembrance, unity, and resilience.
