Mustafa Dzhemilev’s Visit to Toronto

On May 19, 2016, the Crimean Tatar flag was raised before the parliament for the first time in the history of Ontario. The ceremony was attended by the President of CACT Rustem Irsay and the deputy of the Ontario parliament, Ivan Baker.

After the ceremony, the parliament held a rally during which the leader of the Crimean Tatar people Mustafa Dzhemilev and members of parliament spoke. Dzhemilev thanked the Canadian people and the provincial government for their support and called on the Canadian Parliament to step up sanctions against Russia until the complete liberation of Crimea and the end of the war in Eastern Ukraine.
