Haytarma Film Screening
The screening of the film Haytarma (Khaytarma), for the first time in Canada, at Humber Cinemas. The film is based on a true story. In May of 1944, the protagonist, Amet-Khan Sultan, a Soviet fighter ace with Crimean Tatar and Lak origins, comes home to visit his parents in Alupka and becomes a witness of the tragic deportation of Crimean Tatars that was ordered by the Soviet government.
The film received Best full-length movie award at the Italian film festival in Trieste and Nika award in the nomination Best film of CIS and Baltic countries.
